Candidate keys are the keys which can uniquely identify rows in a table and we can choose one of the best or appropriate candidate key as a Primary key. A table may have only one Primary Key & more then one candidate key.

Simply one of the not null candidate key is selected as the primary key. Phone no. is not appropriate for the primary key because it can have null.
