Formada hace más de 15 años, por seis músicos instrumentistas de carrera, a Vocal Sampling lo distingue la capacidad de poder reproducir "a capella" —es decir, solo con sus voces y manos, sin el empleo de ningún sintetizador—, la sonoridad de una orquesta completa. Esta inusual banda fue formada en 1989 en el Instituto Superior de Artes de La Habana por el pianista René Baños, el cantante y guitarrista Reinaldo Santer, el percusionista y bajista Abel Sanabria, el cantante y guitarrista Jorge Chaviano, el trombonista Oscar Porro, y el percusionista Renato Mora. Lo de inusual es porque, a pesar de ser todos eximios ejecutantes de sus instrumentos, decidieron hacer un acercamiento vocal a la música tradicional cubana, con las voces reemplazando todos los instrumentos

Ils reprennent et adaptent des chansons du répertoire traditionnel cubain ("El cuarto de Tula", "Guantanamera"...) mais possèdent aussi leurs propres compositions ("Un son pa'cantar", "Apretaíto pero relajao"...) Dans leur disque "Akapelleando", ils proposent une nouvelle version du standard américain des Eagles (Hotel California) ou encore du classique de Harry Belafonte (Banana Boat). 🤍
